Lykia Links Golf Club

Lykia Links Golf Club, 9.7 out of 10 based on 6 ratings

Holes: 18 | Metres: 6850 | Par: 72 | Handicap Men: 28 | Handicap Ladies: 36

Located between the Mediterranean on one side, lush green forests and the Taurus mountains on the other, Lykia Links is the very first and the only links golf course on the shores of the Mediterranean.

A first for Turkey, and the southern Mediterranean, the links course is set to become one of the finest and a must visit for dedicated golf enthusiasts. It is an 18 hole championship links course set in the sand dunes by the sea and designed by celebrated golf architect Perry Dye. All 18 holes on the Par 72 course have commanding views of the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding mountain peaks, where the prevailing winds will challenge golfers on the four holes on the coastline. Lykia Links Antalya covers 603,000 square meters of the golf complex. The course is a challenge for the accomplished golfer, requiring Scottish-style ‘punch and run’ shots. Quilted fairways are reminiscent of famous courses in Scotland and an assortment of pot bunkers guard the greens and require placement on the fairway.

JUST RETURNED FROM TURKEY 27/3/12 AFTER PLAYING LYKIA LINKS,
LAST WEEK .THE ONCE FABULOUS GREENS HAVE BEEN DESTROYED BY
AN APPLICATION OF WEED KILLER INSTEAD OF FERTILIZER AND
ARE NOW BARREN DIRT ON WHICH NO BALL WILL HOLD FROM ANY DISTANCE. THE COVER UP IS THAT WINTER WEATHER CAUSED THE
PROBLEMS . GOLF COMPANIES ARE NOT COMING CLEAN ON THE ISSUE.

Have just read the comments made by Alan Marsh regarding the condition of the Lykia greens. I am considering booking a party of 8 people to play there in May 2012, and am now wondering if they will be playable by then.

Greens poor but knew about that and made decision to still play. Would advise all golfers to take buggies as a very hard walk.

The greens were in a poor state worth a lot of work being carried out on them daily. The rest of the course was in excellent condition.
