Turkish Airlines Open 2013 Day 1 Results and Scores

Justin Rose, Tiger Woods and Henrik Stenson leave the tee at Hole 3

Here we go with the scores from day 1, with play halted due to darkness. Following weeks of sunny weather, last night and this morning we were treated to some heavy thunderstorms and rain, delaying the first ever European Tour event to be held in Turkey by 3 hours this morning.

Luckily the course condition and drainage system on the Montgomerie Maxx Royal course are superb and once the lightening stopped and the rain eased up, the tournament got underway.

Paul Casey and Pablo Larrazába both made fine starts, with Casey continuing his form throughout the round. At the end of play for the day, it was South Africa’s George Coetzee, England’s Paul Casey, another South African Darren Fichardt and another Englishman Steve Webster who finished on top, all at 7 under with holes still to play.

Tiger Woods battled his way through round 1, fighting and scrapping for each hole, and with a bit of help from Lady Luck, managed to finish the day on just 1 under at Hole 10. Justin Rose shared the same score as Tiger, the former having a bit of trouble in the trees on his final hole of the day. Henrik Stenson fared better, ending the day on 4 under at Hole 10.

The late start meant the players were not able to finish, so below is the current scores as they stand.

Tomorrow play will resume at 8.00 and players must be in position and ready to play at this time. Round 2 tees and tee times will be the same as in the original round 1 draw, meaning  fans will get the chance to see Tiger Woods, Henrik Stenson and Justin Rose in the final group for a second day running rather than having any redraw.
